Dashing down from Doncaster, THE JADE CONVICT delivered the first set of BOBI#17 with a bare-chested bass player who had only joined them on the preceding Tuesday, though, other than his notations strewn about the floor around him, you’d not have known. Interspersed with the lead singer’s reasons for writing the songs it was a strong start to one of BOBI’s best evenings.

More local, if Lincoln can be called local, AUSTIN T’s modern take on the blues was reminiscent of Viral Peach spattered with Aubrey Eals. Driving catchy rhythms with urban poetry. Smashing. Give us more!

MATTHEW JAMES AYLETT is a sensational singer and guitarist, this was his third BOBI appearance. His Amercana-styled acoustic set seems to lend itself to an opener, however the audience weren’t disappointed by this quieter moment in the evening’s proceedings.

Their sound check before the gig had everyone excited at what to expect from Peterbrough’s prog-rockish MODERN HAZE, who rounded off the evening with some catchy riffs, cool harmonies, powerful drums and a call for an encore. It was 11.45pm though and that’s when BOBI have to cut the noise.

A cracking venue, professional lighting, merchandise coming out your ears, four amazing acts playing fabulous music and all for just £7? Stunning!
