What a fine evenings entertainment. Very much a something for everyone night. BOBI #9 and a most mixed night of fun and frolics it was at the home of live music in Boston!

Kicking us off was the north east's premier solo, looping, space-rocking, UFO singer songwriter MELANIE S JANE! Songs about strange happenings and more than a hint of Hawkwind, it was a most unusual, entertaining and, not to mention, original way to to start the evening off.

Next up, the ever wonderful ALICE KAT with a an acoustic take on the glorious, heartfelt pop songs that made her recent album a fixture on the Gadgie Towers stereo of late. They were flying off the shelves afterwards 'n all. Perfect intimate setting for Alice's songs.

A complete change of pace next with Lincoln stalwarts, and Gadgie Towers favourites, SUBURBAN TOYS returning to Boston once again for a raucous run through their fab ska influenced 77 Punk. A great set from the Toys was accompanied by some horseplay and tomfoolery in the pit. Methinks the beer had been going down well at the Queen of Spades by this point.

So to our headliner, and another local making their BOBI debut in the shape of AINJIEL and her piano with acoustic accompaniment. Mixing self penned material with a few reinterpreted covers - Boys of Summer! - it was a fine set of pop tuneage that was warmly received by a good sized crowd. Another successful BOBI gig!

[A personal note from Terry, one of the BOBI organisers (though not necessarily the general opinion of the BOBI team) and co-founder of the Uncovered - Promoting Original Music network: "These gigs are designed to offer an opportunity for original bands to play JUST their own music. There are plenty of other places where covers, however they are interpreted, can be aired. Just my two-pennyworth."]
